Friday Fancies and Shredding

I love Fridays for many reasons; one of those is the fun I have brainstorming a fun splurge outfit for {av}'s Friday's Fancies. Here's the last one I did. The best part about Friday's Fancies is that you don't have to look at the price tag. You can shop online and start making an outfit without thinking about what it will cost. Because it's all for fun!

So, here is my Friday's Fancies for this week!
You're probably thinking, "so you can pick whatever outfit you want and you pick workout gear?" And my response would be, "yes, I did. Let me tell you why."

I started Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred on Tuesday, along with continuing my couch to 5k workout plan, and I found a blogger and twitter community of people who also happened to start the same time as me. It's been fun because when I lack motivation or want to see how everyone else is doing, I can tweet about it with #shredcrew and people respond so quickly. If you want to be a part of it just tell @birdgirlc and she'll add you to the list.

So, as I've found a way to stay motivated to workout and eat right, I'm finding that my apparel is really falling behind on the job. That's why my Friday's Fancies is workout gear--I really want some new pretties to workout in. So, let me tell you what I picked.

{1} The Nike Air Max+ 2011 running shoe is both attractive and functional. I love the color purple, as I'm sure you can tell, and these are so purple without being over the top. Plus, do you know about the Nike+ and iPod workout system? You put the sensor in your shoe (and with these there is a place for it), and it will tell you the pace you're going, how far you've run, and how many calories you've burned once you calibrate the system a few times. Obviously it's not spot on, but it's better than nothing!
{2} The lululemon Get Focused Tank is so cute, plus it has a built in sports bra. I like that it's not tight on the tummy so as to expose everything while you're running, and I love the cross back straps. I've never shopped at lululemon because I've never lived in a city that has one, but in terms of workout gear, it seems like a definite splurge.
{3} Staying with lululemon, I love these Stance Pants. I like foldover yoga pants, and I just think these work well with the flowy top.
{4} I have been wanting a bodybugg system since last Christmas, but I've never officially asked for one. Do you know about it? You wear it on your upper arm; it's fairly flat, and it tells you how many calories you burn on a daily basis. It is an actual measurement based on a lot of factors. I learned about it when I used to go to a personal trainer and they had them at that gym. It's quite expensive, so it isn't something that I would just buy, but it's something I think could really be beneficial with cutting back calories and working out more.
{5} Last, but I think most importantly, is a good headband. This one is again by lululemon, and I found it through Taylor at sterlingstyle. I can totally understand why bloggers get sponsored by companies, because her simply including that headband in her workout essentials made me shop around the lululemon website and inspired my Friday's Fancies post. This one is no slip and stays put while you workout, so says she and the website.

So, if you made it to the bottom, thanks for reading! What are your workout essentials and what workouts are you taking on right now? What's your motivation?

LOVE Lululemon. Hate the price tag! The get focused tank is super cute - I have it in black and it is formfitting enough that it doesn't make you look pregnant, but also loose enough that you don't feel as if you have to suck it in. I wear it for yoga and barre classes!

Having cute clothes makes it so much easier to work out!!!

Love those shoes. I need a new pair so I may have to look into trying these! I have wanted a boddybug too. Just not sure if I will use it enough to warrant the price.

Great post, lady! I am pretty much obsessed with my running shoes - Brooks Adrenaline. I also swear by Nike running shorts!

If you ever get that headband let me know how it works. My heads all funky and can never keep a "no slip' band on my head. They all say that head knows better.

Ok, I feel you draw me in each and every time (and I keep leaving comments) that I'm going to follow you now, yay for me! =)

love lulu. I am trying out the EasyTone clothes from Reebok right now too. They're super tight but hold everything in.

I really want to sign up for a bunch of 5k's this summer. Thanks for the inspiration!

I got all of my workout clothes at Old Navy! I was surprised at their selection! Best sports bra that I've ever worn (lots of support =).

I've enjoyed getting to know you these past couple of days!

These are fab! I love lululemon! And good luck on the shred. I started a healthy eating regime on Monday and am already down 5 lbs so I'm happy. Don't know if I have it in me to do the shred. I admire you :)
