ch-ch-ch-changes

For most of my life, I've not enjoyed 'outdoorsy' things. I went backpacking once in high school and went on our senior trip that was outdoorsy, in college I walked up stone mountain once, and since graduating, I've really don't very little outside.

But, changes are happening. I'm actually starting to enjoy some things outside. I don't know what is going on or if life shifts significantly during the 25th year, but I went white water rafting and zip lining in North Carolina last August and had a blast! I went snorkeling a few weeks ago and loved it. Then, this past weekend I went kayaking with my boyfriend's family and enjoyed it a lot! I'm even suggesting to others that we do things outside...I'm not sure what's gotten into me!

{When you have the camera in your kayak it's hard to get someone else to take a picture}
We drove up to Ocala on Saturday morning and got on the river around 10 AM. We went with a large group and had lunch about halfway through. We didn't realize what a long trip it was going to be, but it was about 8 miles that we kayaked down a calm river.
The scenery was awesome. The camera couldn't capture it. We saw river otters playing on the side (that I didn't have my camera out for), some people saw manatees, and the water was so clear in the morning that we could see the fish swimming along past us. They were HUGE! Some of the catfish could have fed us all!
By the end of the trip we were all a little tired. A warm shower felt nice, and we all slept like a baby that night--I know I did.
I'm actually looking forward to doing it again! My mom and dad are coming down in July and my mom has already said she wants to go sometime. I think she would really enjoy it.

I can't wait to go to keep doing these things; they're really becoming fun for me! In fact, when I head to Atlantis next year I'm sure I'll love the snorkeling there.

Aside from beginning to like outdoorsy things, there are a few other changes I'm experiencing in lifestyle. I'll save those for another day!

Do you like to do things outdoors? What's your favorite activity? Would you consider yourself an outdoorsy person? Is there a difference between being outdoorsy and liking to do things outside?

That looks so fun! I haven't kayaked in a few years, but I loved it. It's so relaxing and peaceful. And I definitely prefer the sit-on-top like y'all got...I would be way too scared of flipping in the other kind and getting stuck!

Yay for positive changes... Feels good, doesn't it? (look forward to hearing the others too!)

How fun this sounds!! Especially that you got to connect with his family in a unique way... something different than the usual sitting around and chatting (and eating). Sitting around is fun too, but I think you really bond when you're doing something a bit less "forced" or stifled.

We would like to be more outdorsey regarding physical activity. Whenever we go hiking, walking, bike riding, etc, we have such a fun time. But we are big "campers!" We go camping for almost 2 weeks in Sonoma every summer and do little trips throughout the year. Absolutely love it- the price, the activity, the food, the surroundings, etc.

My aunt and uncle just got unto kayaking and love it. They live near a large lake so when it gets warm they're out on the water a lot.

Fun! There's this really cool place in Athens, GA to go kayaking. We love doing it when the weather warms up. We take a six pack of beer, sub sandwiches and chill on the river. Those are some of my favorite summer days!
