a whole slew of things

So, you may have noticed that it's been a few days since I've posted (or maybe it was just my mom who called today to ask why I hadn't updated...). Sorry 'bout that. The year is almost over and then you'll be sick of me and my posts. :)

Brittan tagged me in a fun 10 favorite things post. I wanted to play along and share some of my favorite things and some old posts to go with it. If the think listed is hyperlinked, it goes back to an older post!

I love cooking, and I'm not the worst cook in the world. I enjoy cooking because I like good food, but I also like making people happy. I look cooking for my boyfriend, and I always keep my fingers crossed that he'll go back for seconds. I also love baking and cooking for my students at school. It makes me smile when they ask me to bring something specific that I've made for them.
...and how cute would this apron be?
2. Reading blogs.
Though it may not look like it lately, I've loved getting to know people in the blogging world and becoming friends with some. As summer comes along, I look forward to getting all caught up. I'm over seeing that Google reader tells me I have hundreds of posts to read.

3. traveling
Traveling is one of my favorite ways to spend my time and money. This summer I'm going a few places for conferences and small trips, but I'd love to make an international trip again in the next couple of years. My list right now is topped by Greece, Morocco, and China.

Oh, how new this is.

I've been running more and more, and I've been enjoying it more and more. If you had asked me 5 years ago if I ever thought I would enjoy running, I would have laughed.

I'm even doing a half marathon on October 1st!
5. couponing.
I must admit, another part of the reason I've been missing is because I've been spending way too long couponing each day. I'm trying find a balance, but I'm addicted. I'm not an extreme couponer, but I'm getting a kick out of saving tons of money and stocking up on things when they're on sale. If you're looking for tips (some people asked me how I did it in my last post about it), check out these websites:

6. summer vacation
Oh, the main perk of being a teacher. Here's to sleeping in a little, reading a few good books, and enjoying some me time. I'll of course be doing a lot of planning, organizing, learning, and resetting, but I'll also enjoy doing some stuff for me that I can't do during the year. I'll post on a few of my goals/plans this week.

7. my family/boyfriend
I'm thankful for my dad, who always makes me feel like I'm the queen of the world, no matter how small my accomplishment; I'm thankful for my mom, who is always there to listen, whether it be about a bad day, a good day, or something as menial as getting 2 Neutrogena sunscreens for $2. I love that my sister is working harder than she ever thought she could in law school and still has time to think about what's going on with me, and I'm of course very grateful to have my wonderful boyfriend who always listens when I'm upset and congratulates me and celebrates when something exciting has happened!

8. new underwear
Since I can remember, one of my favorite things has been buying new underwear. Nothing to me compares to getting pretty underwear and wearing it for the first time. Not that anyone besides me knows, but I just love it. If I win the lottery or become a millionaire, I guarantee you I will buy a new pair of underwear for everyday for the rest of my life. :)

9. my computer/phone

I love being connected! I use my phone and computer in every way imaginable. My new macbook pro is wonderful, but my iphone has seen it's last days. It's hanging out by a thread. Between turning off randomly, having a broken power button, and only ringing when it feels like it, it only works for me about 80% of the time I need it to. Still, it's a favorite, and I will absolutely be getting another iphone.

10. snail mail.
There are so many things I could put for number 10. Between pottery, me time, naps, and singing in the shower/car, the list of small favorites is endless. But, I think getting mail might top the list of the small things. I love going to the mailbox and finding something special just for me. A card, an invitation, a note, a package, or anything of the sort is just so fun to receive and open.

Good for you and the running! I'm trying to get there myself. And it sucks a little less every time. :) That's awesome that you're running a half marathon! Wow.

I love getting mail. Just about never happens anymore.

The picture of you two is so cute. I love your pearl necklace, so pretty. I call my mom and tell her the most random stuff. They're so great for listening aren't they?

I L.O.V.E my iPhone. Greatest thing I've ever gotten. And the apron, I want that apron. So feminine and cute.
