Splurge or Save: Wedge Ankle Boots

I ordered a few tops from Old Navy, and my first shipment came on Saturday. I was thrilled with the quality and fit of all of them; I can't wait to get the second order. I haven't shopped at Old Navy in many years, but as I'm trying to save money and still look stylish, I decided now was the time to start again. While browsing the website, I found some cute wedge ankle boots that tie up that I surprised myself by liking (they're not the ones that I featured here).

Then, in my online shopping fervor, I headed over to Aldo to look at more of their selection. Between Aldo and what is now available at Old Navy, I'm thinking about purchasing a pair of ankle boots. I just can't decide if they're really me. Since I live in Florida, full boots just aren't reasonable for most of the year, so ankle boots seem to be a better option. I found a pair at Old Navy and at Aldo that look somewhat similar, and I'm weighing the two. I saw Taylor do a Splurge or Save feature on transitional boots, so I thought I'd borrow her idea for these wedge ankle boots.

Which do you like better?
The ALDO ones are real leather, and there's more height to them, while the Old Navy ones are faux suede and don't have a wedge under the front part. At $110 versus $36.94, I'm not sure which I like better...

Do you own ankle boots? What do you wear them with? I'm trying to decide if they're too trendy to wear to work (as a teacher) or if they'd make a cute addition.

Do you have anything you're weighing to splurge or save on right now?

PS. Just saw in the post below that you were a swimmer like me! I swam for a club team in Atlanta in high school and then at College of Charleston during undergrad! Small world : )

Honestly I like the Old Navy ones better! And not just because of the price ;)

I definitely like the splurge ones better and when I am going to buy a steal it has to be a super steal like 20 dollars vs. forty. I am a kindergarten teacher and I would wear those to work!! Super cute!

I would say save honestly. I just found some at TJ maxx for $30 that I love and they look identical to a pair that's like $150. Who knows how long they will be in style too! Old navy has some cute shoes this yr.

i have ankle boots from piperlime a few years ago and i still love them. they are black and i wear them with pants and tights/skirts. for these boots i say go with the cheaper pair, i like how the heel is stacked and another color. xo

I'm all about saving, but it's tricky with shoes! Sometimes cheap ones hurt your feet, so it's worth it to spend more! I like the Old Navy ones though, they're super cute! I have 2 pairs of ankle boots and I totally wear them to work {kinder teacher too!}

Wow, that's tough. I like them both for different reasons. The elastic of the ON but the wedge on the A. But all in all (sorry) I choose the splurge. But one way or another, I always find ways to justify the splurge...like maybe they'll go on sale real soon... haha

I bet you can find a middle range option on endless.com - they're both cute, but every Old Navy shoe I've owned has fallen apart quickly or become smelly because of the pvc. However, for that price you could wear a while then upgrade if you love them :)
