Walking the line...

So, like I mentioned yesterday, I really appreciated the comments on my candidness post. And between those and a few new blogs that I've found in the last couple of days, I'm inspired to share more about me and my life instead of sticking to just topic-based posts dealing with fashion, shopping, and running. So, I'm going to walk the fine I've been so worried about in blogging, and I'm going to share more with you about myself.

Don't get me wrong. I still will include those themes in my blog, and I'll still have posts that are themed and topic based intermixed. But, because my blog is my space, I'm going to talk more from my personal perspective and share things that are going on in my life. I've thought about how I'll do that, and while I'll end up changing and ebbing and flowing along the way, I think I'll end up being able to tell more stories that are more based on themes in my daily life; I'll stay mostly positive, and I won't walk about work. My blog won't change much, as you'll still hear the same things, but I actually think you'll like it better. I'm going to take more pictures and include those as well. I'm making this promise to you and also to myself.

Will you read the next few posts and tell me your thoughts about my changes, if I stick with them, and maybe even what you'd like to hear or learn about me?

My biggest fear in writing in this style is that someone will figure out that my life isn't all that exciting. Have I been good at disguising that up to that point? Will you still read my blog if I don't go out every Friday night or if I sometimes have a headache the next morning after two glasses of wine one night?

Because I don't (go out every Friday)...and I do (sometimes get headaches after two glasses of wine).

And sometimes the highlight of my day is getting something exciting in the mail or sitting on the couch knowing I have absolutely nothing to do.

But while I'm not all that exciting on a regular basis, I'm pretty proud of who I am and what I've experienced in my 25+ years (it will be 26 on October 2). I've studied abroad, I've lived in Africa for a summer, I returned to Africa after a number of years and found that while not much had changed, in fact quite a lot had changed (can that make sense?). I've moved to a new city by myself, I've made a life for myself in that new city, I've built up an 8 month emergency fund (Suze, are you proud?), and I've eaten more sushi and Mexican than I should admit.

And since I'm going to share more, why not start with a picture of little me.
Didn't I look exactly the same as I do now?
I still wear that dress.

Is this all okay with you?

This is your blog, girl! You can write about whatever you want! I am the most boring person ever in real life, but that doesn't stop me from being awesome in blogland! Lol! :) You can be the same way!

I'm pretty sure that dress would have been PERFECT for a semi-formal! I'm sad I never saw it :)

Good for you. I think it is easy to get caught up in trying to portray this perfect life in the blogworld, but it's refreshing to be real!
