Workin' it!

This week, in accordance with my July goals, I stepped it back up to working out five times. I made it my goal, so I was going to stick with it.

Here's what I did:
Monday: Off Day

Tuesday: Bridal Bootcamp Week 1 (just to mix it up...not because I'm in week one of wedding preparation) from Fitnessista (this is a great blog).
I loved this workout! I looked at it and thought it would be easy and wouldn't be enough. I was so wrong! There was some weights, some abs, and some HIIT cardio stuff. It was a great variety, and it kept be moving around the gym. You would either need to have a few free weights at home or feel a little comfortable using free weights at the gym. I liked it because it kept me moving around the gym, and I would definitely recommend you try it out to mix things up!

Wednesday: Holiday! No working out unless tons of cooking and cleaning counted!

Thursday: Step plus Abs Class (1 hour)
I've only tried a step class for 30 minutes in a long variety class, and I thought it was complicated that time. I actually really enjoyed it more this time. It was literally 50 minutes without stopping of stepping and moving and kicking and punching. I didn't realize that you could find a 50 minute song that doesn't stop, but this instructor did it. I liked it a lot, but I don't think it was one of the more complicated classes. I had (prior to my experience in the variety class) thought of step as being a "boring" or "easy" class, but it is absolutely not. It probably takes a few classes to pick up the steps.

Friday: Les Mills RPM (45 minutes) and the Friday daily workout plan.
This wasn't a new class for me. I RPM all the time, and I've been to Sean's class before. He's good, and motivational; I got a good workout. I wanted a little more, so Friday afternoon I did a quick 15-20 minutes with the daily workout plan I found on Pinterest.

Saturday: Les Mills BodyPump (1 hour) then Run 1.25 miles/Walk .75 miles
BodyPump is what I accredit for the biggest body transformation I've seen. Because I've done it 2-3 times per week most weeks since January, I truly believe it is what has led me to tone up and become more lean. I guess a lot of women thing of weights as causing bulk, but pump focuses on (very) high repetition with low weights. It's said to burn upwards of 600 calories per class.
The only reason I got on the treadmill for 2 miles was because I decided not to stay for Combat and felt badly. It was a pretty pathetic attempt at getting extra work in...but I won't completely leave it off.

Sunday: 4 miles outside in just over 38 minutes.
I waited around to run and ended up not getting out there until 8:30 or so, and by that time it was over 80*. I felt like I was running on the face of the sun.

I can't believe I'm going to say this...but I'm kind of getting tired of doing the same things at the gym. I'm looking for something different, and I'm thinking about investing in some home workout DVDs. I'm definitely going to buy a few Jillian Michael's DVDs (I have 30 Day Shred and like it), but I'm also thinking about starting Insanity, P90X, or TurboFire in September.

Have any of you done any of these home workout DVDs or others you'd recommend supplementing my running or gym classes with?

Here are two reviews I found of those specific ones:
Turbofire from Fitnessista
Insanity from Fitnessista
Top Workout DVDs from TinaReale

You are doing awesome lady! :)

I have been training with running so much that I'm not good for a recommendation. I've heard through friends that TURBOFIRE and Insanity are awesome though.

Way to go on getting all of your workouts in! I know I emailed you back about ChaLEAN, but something else I really love adding to my weekly workout routines is Kristin McGee's Power Yoga DVD's (I have the one she did for MTV, and one she just released). They are super tough, and it gives you the benefits of yoga as well.

I can't believe how you rock your workouts now!!!

I have P90X and pretty much don't do them anymore. I do the ab ripper x only (well, I actually don't have any of the dvds at my house anymore but that one) but they are H-A-R-D!

I did great for the first 3-4 weeks but had major issues with the 1 1/2 hour long REALLY HARD yoga and stopped after that. I have to many injuries to allow me to do all that was in the videos.

But I say go for something like that to mix things up. I hear a lot of great things on Jillian Michaels stuff
