Got run over by a crappy purple scion...

The title has nothing to do with the post. But for some reason I actually listened to the words of the Train song "50 Ways to Say Goodbye". And it's so funny. It just makes me laugh out loud. He's telling his girlfriend that if she leaves he'll lie to his friends about where she went...and the ways are absolutely out there. Just listen to it.

Off my tangent.

I hope I'm not jinxing myself by pre-planning this the night before my big doctor's appointment, but I'm going to hope that my feeling good along with the doctor's pre-approval on signing up for the marathon will mean she's going to give me the go ahead at 8:30 AM (I'll update on twitter). And in case you're newer, I had surgery August 7th that meant I couldn't do any exercising for somewhere around 6 weeks (and that's a long time for a fairly green workout/running addict). It hasn't quite been that long, but I'm not bringing my calendar along. I'm ready to run! And in case being out of exercising for 6 weeks wasn't motivation enough, I went ahead and signed up for the Disney marathon on January 13th. No big deal. I mean check out the bling...
And I mapped out my training plan. I'm using Hal Higdon's Novice 1. Even though I've run 4 half marathons with one being the day after a 15k + 5k back to back, I'm still going to start slow since I'll be coming back from a big surgery. If I find this to be not challenging enough or wanting to go for a better time goal halfway through, I may re-evaluate. I have to stick with Hal since he got me to the start and then the finish of my first half marathon last year.

So here's my plan all mapped out and pretty. I will have missed two three milers this week, but I may make one up Friday. We'll see how the Thursday 3 miler is.
My Garmin is charging, my clothes are clean, my shoes are partying in the closet, and I'm ready to go this afternoon.

Nothing will stop me (except the doctor...oh the power of that woman).

It's been far too long since I've seen this:
And though I'm a little afraid of what my Garmin is going to look like at the end, I'm just excited to reconnect. He's been so sad laying in the bottom of a random bag before being moved to a drawer. I heard an extra special beep today when I laid him on the charger.

See you tomorrow with some letters! I'm sure there'll be at least a sweaty picture or a Garmin shot to look forward to. Here's hoping I don't fall into a cement mixer full of quicksand (listen to the song I mentioned...).

Fingers crossed for you today! I took a month off of running so I know how you feel. Your marathon plan looks good, I am assuming some of the week days run are hill repeats, intervals, and tempo runs? Don't be too hard on yourself on your first run back, you will get there! :)

Wuhoo! I hope everything is a go! My poor Garmin and your Garmin are feeling the neglect. Since I've only been light running on the TM -the Garmin isstill under 10x used!

So excited you get to run again!! I loved your response to her when she said not to make a 6 miler your first run.

I hope you enjoy every step you take!! ..which, I'm thinkin' you will.

BTW...love Hal's Novice 1 - you will do great on that one (and it may even be a little easy for you).

Your plan is encouraging...it's definitely not as menacing as I though it would be! Can't wait to see how you progress!
