Weekend in Review

This weekend FLEW by. The last few weekends have been rather low key and consisted of little else than an activity or two, but this one was jam packed.
Friday night Tim and I went to dinner, and though we were originally going to go to this awesome burger place called Burger 21, the parking for the Oktoberfest nearby was insane, so we changed options. We ended up getting Mexican, and it actually suited my fancy even more. I opted for the large beer, and when it came it was only just short of me actually being able to get into it and drink it.
I definitely didn't finish the whole thing, even with a little help. We got ice cream afterwards, and I definitely did finish that. I decided that I could start carboloading two nights before my Sunday half marathon.

I have become such an old lady with bedtimes though. I went to bed fairly early every night this weekend, and I still don't feel like I've gotten that much rest.

Saturday morning I didn't have a run, and I slept in until a glorious 10:15 before going to the costume shop to finish my costume. I dangerously carried my Ulta 20% off coupon with me, and on a last minute whim decided to stop by. I did some damage. I actually vlogged about it, but I can't for the life of me get the video to upload, so I'll save that one for tomorrow. I got so much awesome stuff, and I've already really liked what I've used so far.

Saturday afternoon we went to the USF game and tailgated before the 7:00 PM start. How USF was able to turn a 23-3 lead at the half to a loss overall is beyond me. We stayed most of the game, but when we slowly saw Syracuse creeping up, we decided to be bad fans and left. I had a race at 7 the next morning that was an hour away!
Another relatively early bedtime prepared me to get up at 4:15 to meet Genna at 5:20 to head down to south Pinellas county for our half marathon. The Halloween Halfathon was put on by the Florida Road Races organization, and it was really well done. I was impressed.

There was a very on time start at 7:05, and the course was scenic and beautiful the whole way. The head wind on the way back was atrocious, and I saw many runners surrender to their desire to walk. It really was resistance training. I was putting forth my highest effort of the whole race and was going 15-20 seconds slower per mile than the rest of the race. It's good practice, I guess. It was a costumed race, and while I intended to be the evil queen, I realized that my costume looked very homemade when I put it on. No one would have guessed what I was. So I went with the princess look instead.
I was within a minute of a PR on the half, so I was proud of that with all the wind. And then I picked up and finished the 14 miles I had on schedule for the weekend.

After spending the afternoon doing something for work, I ate pretty much everything that didn't eat me and fell asleep on the couch around 7:30. It was a great weekend, but it makes me crave next weekend even more. I want to sit around (awake) and do nothing.

How was your weekend? What did you do for Halloween?

Congrats on a great race! That wind was insane on the way back! Thank goodness it wasn't the entire way back, but those spurts of wind were killer!
