Friday's Letters

Dear Family, you treated me so well for Christmas. Thank you so much! I love everything that I received, especially the medal holder and Sephora all-stars set. Dear Tim, I had fun with you at New Year's. I love going out and having fun with you. Everyday I realize more and more how much I love you.
Dear winter break, you've been lovely, and you've spoiled me. I get these tastes of being a stay at home wife and love it. I know I'd probably get bored after too long. Dear cleaning schedule and organization challenge, I'm following you so far, and it feels nice! My house is cleaner, my guest bedroom is organized and actually nice to sit in, and I know if I keep following this I'll be able to keep it up really easily. Dear mother nature and God, please please please don't let this 10 day forecast be true. Please. I just don't know what I'll do if I have to run 26.2 miles in the rain. What will that be like?
Dear runners who have run marathons or half-marathons in real rain, (because I'm not counting this as a whole race in the rain), what are your tips? I've only done one training run in the rain. Dear school next week, how can I arrange it so you fly by? Friday afternoon afternoon brings a car ride to Disney and the marathon expo! I need arrangements to happen to make that come quickly! Dear RunDisney vinylmation, you are so cute! I can't wait to make you mine with that little Mickey medal.
Dear Disney 20th Anniversary Marathon, Come rain, sleet, hail or high water, I'm going to make you the best race of my life. I haven't missed a single training run, and you're going to be mine! Dear Hal Higdon, I can't wait to see how your novice 2 training plan holds up under fire. I'll share opinions after the race. Dear readers, Thanks for your support, encouragement, and for being here reading!

What are your plans this weekend? I'm doing more cleaning and organizing, plus getting in my last long run!

I'm linking up for Friday's Letters today!

oh no!! I seriously hope that it doesn't rain for you, that would be so sad. BUT regardless I know you will be awesome come race day whether it's raining or not. You have been AWESOME sticking to all of your training, I cannot believe you haven't missed a single run, wow, that seriously impresses me. I always struggle to make EVERY.SINGLE.RUN. and so to make that happen is just fantastic! I am so excited for you.
As a side note, I have run a race in the rain before and the idea is to just know you will get wet. Wear a hat so the rain doesn't get in your eyes and a light, loose-fitting top. I didn't wear a rain jacket but you could if you want, I just get really hot easily so I opted not to wear one. I also wore capris that were dri-fit, they were still soaked but oh well. Also be sure and use EXTRA body glide in places you wouldn't think to use it...definitely between your thighs, around your bra and arms and I put a bunch on my feet before I put my socks on since I knew my feet were going to be soaked, this helped tremendously! Body glide and hat, those are my top pieces of advice for you. And have fun! If you can run 26.2 in the rain then you are one freaking awesome woman! :)

A marathon in the rain sounds kind of miserable–I hope the weather holds out for you! Happy weekend, Meghan! xo

ugh Florida is so unpredictable with rain! I hope the weather is in your favor!!
That vinylmation made me laugh! It's kind of cute even though I hate vinylmations after working for Disney!
This weekend is my first double digit run! Kind of excited because then it means I'm one step closer to 13.1!

The weather lately has been so stinkin unpredictable! Regardless, you have worked long and hard for this race. You came back from surgery and jumped right back into training and racing! You've remained super focused running solo, which I admire, and that'll only help you beat whatever ails you that day - if anything even does! I can't wait to run Saturday and then cheer you guys on Sunday as you all make your own personal history! Cheers!

Running in the rain (I've done lots of this): I echo the comment above about using extra body glide or even vaseline. I cover my toes in vaseline when I know my shoes will get wet. I also wouldn't add any gear your not used to - that's general marathon advice but applies here too. Make sure someone's got a jacket for you at the end. Otherwise, don't worry - you'll either be drenched in sweat or water, and water is cleaner :)

I'm a new runner so i have no tips for you there, sorry. I do wish you the best on your marathon and I pray it doesn't rain!

Hopefully you'll be done before the rain! Its usually late afternoon showers in Orlando anyway.

If it does...I ran Augusta in the rain. Started sprinkling on the bike then downpoured on the run. It keeps it cool and its better than super hot and humid. I'd say, wear a hat or visor. It will keep it out of your eyes. I'd avoid baggy clothes and wear something form fitting so you're not absorbing tons of water.

AND most importantly have fun! You're going to ROCK this marathon!

I actually enjoyed rainy runs, but never did one over 5-7 miles. I don't like shorts in the rain though - make sure you use something for chaffing if you do!

Good luck! You will ROCK IT!
