Goals for 2013 & My Commitment

Although I only sent 4 goals for 2012, I was successful with them all. I have decided to set a few more goals for 2013 with that successful streak in mind. I tried to incorporate every area of my life, aside from my professional one that I don't really talk about here on my blog. These things are all very doable if I commit and keep them in my head throughout the year.

All of the goals I think are pretty straightforward except changing my name. Even though we got married in July, I haven't gotten my name changed yet for a couple of reasons. I'm hoping that in the first couple of months of 2013 I'll be able to finally change my last name!

I also saw on a couple of blogs that I read that a way to be successful with goals is to set a time limit on them, so I really want to start strong with meatless Mondays in January and then adjust from there to see if maybe we can make going meatless more frequent than just on Mondays after that. I'll of course update at the end of the month on that goal.

I talked about making a commitment for 2013 as opposed to making a resolution, and all of the goals I have for 2013 fall under the premise of my overall commitment.
In some way, everything that I have listed as a goal goes into this commitment. Some of the areas that I really want to work on are my fitness outside of running, eating cleaner, keeping our house/closet/belongings neater and more organized, and not worrying about all the little things. I feel like the area of savings applies to mental well-being because of what we don't have to worry about it we having savings.

Overall I'm trying to start 2013 fresh and refocused. I'd like to learn more about what it means to us to eat lean, clean, and green, and I'd like to adapt our eating to meet those needs.

For now, though, I have to tell you that my main focus until January 13th is going to be getting to the start and finish line of my first marathon! Then I'll hit the ground running with making all of these changes. I feel like changing eating and cross training and fitness at this point would really be counterproductive after all of the training that I've put in. But I did want to set those goals now so that I have them going forward.

I'm excited to read your goals today! I hope you'll help hold me accountable and I'll do the same if you're interested! Let me know what your most important goal is to you!

Such awesome goals!! Love them all! I am also in the process of changing my name (married in October) and it's definitely a slow process and kind of hard to make sure everything lines up. So far I have my passport, social security card and one credit card changed. Happy 2013!

It took me awhile to change my name too....like a year, there's just so much you have to change immediately after the legal change, and everybody needs your marriage license. What a hassle, can't my insurance guy/airline/etc just trust me on that? Good goal!

I love how clear and direct your commitments are! It is such a good message. I can't wait to hear how they all go. 1000 miles next year is a lofty goal but I know you can do it!

I have cleaned up my diet like whoa over the past two years. It may help to keep a food journal - the trick is to analyze how you feel after you eat certain foods because everyone reacts differently. I could go on about food for forever :)

Love the meatless monday! I've seen several ppl say that. I tried to do that for a bit last year (although it was more of a meatless day...didn't always happen on monday) Thanks for the reminder! That might be a feb goal of mine :)
