No new is good new...(and a giveaway)

Happy Valentine's Day! I've found two great products to share with you, and while I received the Lock Laces from the company, the sports bra is something that I've been searching for for a while and bought all on my own.

If you're not a runner, don't skip this post. Both of these items would be great for gym goers, cross fitters, and runners, hobbyist and addict alike. I promise they're both worth a look.

The first one is Lock Laces, which I'd heard about and wanted to try for myself. They're shoelaces made of elastic that lock into place so that your shoes stays snug to your foot for your whole workout. It's also really easy to slip your foot in and out of your shoe, because there are no strings to tie or untie.
I ran in my pink ones today. I actually put one into one shoe and left the normal laces in the other shoe so that I could see the difference. I had a six miler to do and knew this would be the perfect chance to try out the laces.
My shoes slipped on quickly and stayed snug to my feet for the whole run. I think I tied them a little too tight, but the elastic makes it so that they were able to adjust a little each step. I was worried before receiving the item that they would be too stretchy and my foot would slip out of them. It didn't at all. But when I wanted to take my foot out, they slipped right out. I can't explain it, really. They work for slipping the shoe on and off, but they don't slip when you're actually running in them.

As soon as I got home, I replaced the other lace with the Lock Laces. It was a quick change as well.
Since the company sent me three pairs, I've decided to give away the blue ones to one reader. I figured I could share the love, as you'll love them as well! You can enter below through the Rafflecopter.

And I just saw on their Facebook page that through midnight tonight (2/14), you can get 50% off a pair using the code LOVE13.

Aside from the Lock Laces, I also ran with something else new today that I loved: a Moving Comfort sports bra. I'll spare you pictures of mine and just use the ones from the website.
I've been running in the Target C9 sports bras for the last year or two and didn't think anything of it. They seemed to do the trick. But as I was looking at race pictures after the Rock 'n' Roll St. Pete, I realized that I just didn't look that well supported. I had been thinking of trying a better sports bra, but the marathon pictures and ones from this weekend made me realize that it was time.

I tweeted out asking for recommendations, and immediately I got at least three responses suggesting Moving Comfort was the way to go. When I went to the FITniche event on Monday, I tried on the Rebound Racer sports bra and liked the fit, feel, and support of it. With the $10 off coupon they gave us I decided to buy it and try it. It's normally $50, which is a lot for a bra, so I was hoping it lived up to the hype.

When I went for my run with my new lock laces today I decided to double up on the newness and wear the sports bra as well. It was a great decision. I'm going to invest in another of them. It was very comfortable, didn't chafe, fit me well, and kept everything in place for my whole 6 mile run. It's something that can't be said for the Target bras I've been wearing. They gave us another $10 off coupon to use at a later date at the event, so I'll probably head down there and cash in on that before the end of the month. I like the other color options offered online, but I can't pass up getting 20% off. Check out the information online to find out more about the science of the bra. I just know it fit well, doesn't look hideous, and did everything that I wanted it to do. If you're looking for a new sports bra, I'd highly recommend this one.

Since I swear by the saying that "no new is good new on race day", I took full advantage of this mid-week run to try out my new. I'll wear them both again a few more times before hopping into a half marathon with them, but I can tell you already that these are two items that have quickly made their way up my "running must haves" list.

a Rafflecopter giveaway
*disclosure: I received three pairs of Lock Laces from the company, but I really and truly love the feel of them. I paid for the sports bra on my own, and Moving Comfort has no idea that I'm even writing this review.

I run exclusively in Moving Comfort bras. I especially love the ones that have the clasp in the back, it makes getting the sweaty thing off after a run so much easier!

I'm a Target bra wearer, too..... I know they're not the greatest, I'm just too lazy to get other ones!! I've heard a lot of great things about the moving comfort ones and have always wanted to try them!

I don't wear one specific brands. I mostly have Nike but I also wear some Lululemon, VS Pink, & Adidas. One of the benefits of being small chested is I don't need a ton of support. I'm going to check out Moving Comfort to see what they have, I'm pretty sure my local running store sell them!

Those laces would be great for tri races too! Faster then having to tie shoes. I also wear the sports bra from Target. I've heard great things about the Moving Comfort bra but I haven't wanted to spend $50 on it. Maybe I'll give it a try.

I love my C9s.. lol. Price is right, and I don't need a "lot" of support.. but as we age, of course it's something to think about! ;)

my last few have been C9, mostly because they fit great (I have a larger chest) and they are super cost effective!!!

I really should shell out the money to invest in a good bra. I've got a lot to support, so I usually end up wearing two bras. I'm definitely gonna go look at this one! Thanks for the recommendation!

I love the Target C9 sports bras, also!

I used to run in a walmart one that was great for short runs. But it really did a number on my skin after my first long run in it. Now I'm wearing a Champion from a sporting goods store. So far so good, but we'll see how it fares Sunday!

I'm always looking for a better sports bra because I still haven't found one that I don't have to double-up on. Maybe I'll try this one. About the laces- I love the look and the idea behind them, but with the extra end of the lace after the clasp seems like it would bounce on your foot as you ran? Did this happen? I think that would annoy me.

Usually the C9 from Target, but I have some from Fila too, and they're pretty nice!

LOVE moving comfort sports bras! Its the only kind I wear now! Def worth the money. And I'm actually a bit excited about those laces too... Trying to sit down and tie my shoes with two little ones doesn't sound fun, so I totally think these would be worth a try.

Oh and I'll just throw a quick piece of advice out too for anyone interested- a good sports bra is totally worth the money. No one likes saggy boobs- protect those things while you're young (before you have kids) and don't put too much stress on them. Really. You'll appreciate it later

I LOVEEEEE my moving comfort bras! Look into the Moving Comfort Vixen and the Aero styles as well. They are pull over your head style, but they are just as comfy.
I was in love with my UnderArmour Armour bra too, but the clasp broke :( Need to sew a new one on and it'll be just fine.
Other one is Nike Pro Compression bras, they aren't very uplifting/shapely, but the girls don't move an inch. I have a CWX bra I won at raffle at Fit2Run and it's pretty good for taming the tata's but no shape.

I keep hearing wonderful things about the moving comfort bras and have yet to get one. I require a really supportive sports bra for running so I need to just go and invest!

I usually run in the Target sports bras too, but have heard great things about Moving Comfort. I know Running Warehouse carries that brand, but I am not sure that their selection is like. However, I have had nothing but good experiences ordering other running gear from them!
