This week was awesome. I got more miles in, and they were good ones at that. It's good to be really back to running.
Here's the breakdown:
Monday was my last non-Friday rest day before jumping into my half marathon training plan.
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday were all about the same pace (9:00, 9:02, 9:14). Thursday was a bit slower with the same expended effort, so I think my legs were just pushing out the last bit of recovery needed. I'm excited to be back to running regularly! I missed it for the last two weeks.
Fridays are now going to be my only rest days, so I know I'll always have Friday to come home from work, crash on the couch, and relax.
Saturday was a great day! It was the Best Damn Race 10k. The recap will come this week, but the weather was perfect, the course was beautiful, and I met up with some girlfriends there. I PR'ed by a little over 2 minutes and ran the 10k in 53:10.
| me, Meghan, Tori, and Genna before the race. |
Sunday I was surprised to find a 9 mile long run on my training plan when I first received it, but you know me and training plans. If it's there I'm going to do it. It worked out well because Kat also had a long run to get in on Sunday after her Warrior Dash, so we met up on Davis Island to run there and Bayshore. Another friend of hers also came, and we had a lot of fun running and chit chatting! We ran nine miles in 1:24:56, right around a 9:25 pace.

I can't complain about two perfect weather, great paced runs in one weekend!
This week I start my first speed workout. I'm excited!

Great job racing and getting in those miles today girl! :)
Way to rock the 10K! I am also jealous you and Kat can run together. Maybe I need to convince the husband we need to move down there ;)
Awesome job on the 10K, I love Bayshore need to try running out there sometime soon :-)
Great job on your runs this week! My legs told me this week they wished I had more recovery time post marathon... glad yours recovered so well. And a new 10k pr is fantastic- congrats!!
Great job on all your runs this week! Where you ran today looks beautiful! I like how you all wore pink ;)
yay for a shiny new PR! I wish I would have known you guys were running bayshore, I was right there and craving Datz!!! I have never been there for a meal besdies the yelp event!
So I'm fairly new to your blog, and I was wondering:
1. What does PR stand for in regards to running marathons? haha
2. What app or program do you use to track your workouts? (Like in the post from February 3rd).
Thanks! I'll be keeping up with this blog for sure :)
What a great mileage week so soon after the marathon!! You're killing it! Do you have any other races set to goal/PR before IronGirl?
