Friday's Letters: I got a bike!

Dear New Bike, I love you. You're so pretty and ride so well, and I got a steal of a deal on you, which makes you all the more beautiful and wonderful. I'll share more about you on the blog later, but for now I'm just excited to ride you around this week to get used to you. Now I can really prepare for the Irongirl Clermont Sprint Tri! You need a name...what should it be?!
Dear Bob Harper, Your DVD is insane. I haven't done strength training of that difficulty since the last Les Mills BodyPump class I went to, and even that I'm not sure was as hard as this. The calories burn wasn't that high, but I think it's because it was a lot more arm weights than cardio, though you threw it all in there. Dear ankle, you're still hurting me. I went to the doctor and found out I have a peroneal tendon strain (tendonitis). The PA said I could run through the pain, but after my attempt at four miles at goal pace yesterday...that might be trickier than I had thought. Time for lots of ice, rest, stretching, and elevatioin. Dear goal pace attempt, Hm. I had to stop after 3.5 miles of goal pace, which I've never had to do before. My ankle was killing me, and I couldn't run through it anymore. I have this strange feeling that losing that last .5 miles invalidates the entire workout that I did, but I don't think that's the case... Dear Stella & Dot Hostess order, I'm loving wearing all of my pretty new jewelry! I think I've already picked out favorites, but I haven't had a chance to wear you all yet!

Dear weekend, you're bittersweet for me...I'm excited that it's the weekend and Tim is off two days, but at the same time you signify the end of my extended spring break. I've loved every minute of spring break, but it's going to be slow going getting back to work on Monday... Dear Tim, I love you! I had fun at the Yelp event with you last Sunday, and I'm excited for you to come to the next one with me. I hope you're able to take a little time off from studying this weekend to relax. I can't wait until you're done with school for a two month break coming up! Dear Readers, have a wonderful Good Friday and Easter with your family! Do you have any fun plans?

Did you plan a special outfit for Easter?
What's the hardest workout DVD you've tried?
If a doctor tells you you can try to run through an injury, do you still push it or hold back some?

Great looking bike! Enjoy the miles, and if you work cadence on your bike, then you will continue to keep your running fitness, while rehabbing your ankle. Also, it is ok for you to slow down while your ankle is rehabbing. Do not worry about goal pace until the tendinitis has cleared up. I love your post concept for letters Friday.

I had peroneal tendonitis back in October - I ended up in a boot for two weeks. Take it easy and put some miles on that new bike!

PS - I got Jillian's Kickboxing Fast Fix video last week and I think it's the hardest I've ever done - oh my word.

I think you' already seen my fun Easter plans, we're in Tampa! The most fun will be celebrating my nephew's 1st birthday tomorrow (which is really why we're in town). But before the weekend's festivities begin, I need to head to the mall and find an Easter outfit. This is the huge fail side of being a stay at home mom with a new running hobby, all my clothes are comfy...there are minimal dressy clothes in my closet.

I am so excited you got the bike! Bluebird was the first thin to pop I to my head, until "BLUE" screamed out Will Ferrell-style from Old School. Both seem too obvious but I'm not good at naming things. Speaking of, I actually blogged about Matt's new car today and it needs a name too (or so he says). I wish I lived closer, I'd love to watch & cheer you on for the TRI!

Greg got a brand new road bike and it's currently hanging out in our living room :-) It sure is gooooooorgeous!! He is excited for the snow to melt and salt/dirt to be washed away so that he can get out on the bike!

Sorry about your ankle :-( Hope it starts to feel better soon!

Have a great weekend, enjoy spending time with Tim!!

Your bike definitely needs a name! Mine is Monsieur Velo. And with your ankle acting up, you'll be able to spend more time with him/her.

Sorry about your ankle! I would definitely just listen to your body, regardless of what the doc says. I love your Stella and Dot haul! I got the Sidewinder and the "bullet" looking necklace too and I'm loving them.

OOOOO new bike is beautiifulll. I think it's a girl. It's a pretty shade of teal.
I have no outfit planned for Sunday yet, but I know we are going to the bf's parents for early dinner. I work Saturday night so may not make it to church.
I am hard headed and push through it and injure myself according to history, BUT I am getting better about it and listening to my body much more and so far this year, I've given it rest when it wants it, even though I'm dying to go out an run/workout.

LOVE your new bike! How fun! Sorry to hear the ankle still is hurting. I would have a hard time continuing to run on it even if the doctor said it's okay. I do have an outfit for Easter already, I just got it at JCP. We have to go to three different family events, ah the joys of being married! At least they are all close by. Hope you have a good weekend!

I am totally jealous of your bike! I have been hinting (and by hinting I mean telling) my husband that I want a bike for every birthday, holiday, anniversary, etc. for years and still... no bike! Enjoy!!

Love the bike! I've been on the hunt for a bike just to get out with the baby and pull her around, but I've seen so many blogs lately with more serious bikes thinking I need to look into one. Happy Easter!

your new bike is pretty :) My bike is named Dorothy.

Denise and I are talking about doing Iron Girl too, but we also have an event on Sunday, so we'd have one heck of a weekend!

Love all your pretty bling!

I've pushed through an injury, and did regret it. Last week my IT band was really bothering me, so I took it easy and I recovered pretty quickly, so I say modify your workouts and let your ankle heal!

See you at the next Elite event :)

XOXO

I've been having some foot pain as well during my runs and it's really frustrating me! I haven't had a good run in a while... Good luck with your ankle and resting! I need to do some ice, stretch, relax and repeat myself!

Love the new bike - we should go ride. I need to pull mine back out! I did something to my ankle last weekend (rolled it on a root) and tried to run Sunday - and now am swollen and in pain! Sucks so I feel your pain. Heal up and rest it - won't be worth it to make it worse.

Sorry to hear about your ankle pain. If the pain is more than a 3 on a scale of 10, then back off and rest and ice your ankle. I've gotten similar pain in my ankle a while back and pushed through it since I was at my peak in training and got 3 PRs (half marathon, 5K and 10K). Then ended up getting a stress fracture and had to stop all running and wore a boot for 4 months. My ankle has never been the same again and I've never been able to run as fast as I did. It's like starting over. But I'm running smarter now and listening to my body. Cross-train with your new bike or elliptical or do pool running to maintain your running fitness. Good luck!
