Lighthearted...and some things I don't want to do.

I took a two day break from blogging because I've not been able to stop working and training long enough to think about anything else. There have been a few tweets and pictures here and there, but for the most part I've been internet silent. And while some people leave and come back and say, "it was nice," for me it wasn't. I missed writing! And I missed catching up with what's going on in the rest of these internet parts.

Instead of a serious one topic post today, I'm just going to share a lot of random things--it'll be like a word and thought gumbo. I've got stuff to say! First, I'm incredibly amazed and excited by the response to the big group lululemon and race entry giveaway. I thought it would be successful, but I didn't think it would get this much attention! Thanks for that! If you haven't entered be sure to do that.

Today the end of the craziness that I've been experiencing for the last six days has finally started to draw to a close. This always happens the week before spring break, but something about added responsibilities I've been given caused me to go into full panic mode. I'm lucky that I really am good at managing my work and life balance, but at times like these the scales shift and I end up fully vested in work. I looked down at my outfit today and realized it was somewhat cute and really patted myself on the back for that. The fact that I was lucky enough to end up at work with clothes on at all was big for me, and putting together and outfit I was proud of was even better. I did wear my leopard loafers on purpose, as they tend to make me feel extra sassy.
I love shoes. I don't own a pair of plain ones. There's something about a cute and fun pair of shoes that makes me feel so put together. Do you loves shoes?

And speaking of shoes, I'm going to get new running ones of a different brand. My mileage is almost done on the Asics GT-2000s I got in December, and I think I'm going to switch and jump on the Brooks bandwagon. It seems I'll be the last to join the group, but something about the Brooks Ravenna 4s (cough COLOR cough) made really want to switch. People at the running store said that they're going to be Brooks' version of the GT-2000 and that if I like the GT-2000 (which I do), that I would like these as well. While I want to try a pair of minimalist shoes (that are meant for my gait), I'm just afraid to commit just yet.

For some reason lately I've started making a mental list of things that I'm surprised that I have no interest to do. It's a random list, and I've only got three things on it, but they're things that I feel like many people do want to do or try at some point. The things that I don't have any desire to do are:

1. Go to Australia...(random, I know)
I don't know why, as I really love to travel and can't list many places I don't care to visit, but I just don't care to go there. It's a long plane flight, and I just don't feel like there's anything there worth flying that long for. That might change, but for now, I'm good.

2. Run an ultramarathon.
I know a lot of people who have done them or want to do them, and I just don't. 26.2 is far enough for me. I'll be okay if I never run a mile over 26.61.

3. Run a trail race.
I've heard it's really fun, but I'm so prone to accidents that I just know it would lead to terrible things for me. And even though I live in Florida now, because I'm from Tennessee originally, when I hear trail I think hills and mountains. Hills and mountains aren't my friend when it comes to running.

But hey, if I'm signing up for a trail 50k in Australia in a few years, I guess it's just a change of heart.

And at the same time, I've never really had a bucket list, but there are a couple of things I would like to do. It's kind of a more serious topic than for just a fun post, but there are definitely a few things that I've started to juggle around in my head more lately. I'll share those another day.

Ask me a question!
I want to do a post answering questions you have about me, my life, and my path to running. I asked for questions on twitter and got a couple, but I'd love to know what you want to know about me so I can put a post together for next week. Anything?

My turn...
In the mean time,
what's your go to running shoe right now?
what's something you don't care to do that you know a lot of people do want to do?

You know that I love Brooks! and that Ravenna is on point! I love the colors but they might be a little too narrow for my feet but if it wasn't I would wear them! I didn't have an interest in trail racing but I think I might do some of the picnic Island 5Ks this summer just to have a race during the summer

Super cute shoes! Question, hmmm... so why did you start running? (I'm new here so you may have answered this already)

I used to run in Brooks. Right now I am in NB. The color grabbed me, they are pink and black. I do love them, very comfy. But I will prob. go back to Brooks after these. And Australia is on my wish list too.

I'm a huge fan of minimalist shoes and love my NB Minimus Zero Drops! I also have no desire to ever run an ultra marathon but can't say that I would ever skip out on an opportunity to visit Australia ;)

Right now I'm in Brooks Adrenaline GTS 13s but I'm considering trying a different brand because the colors in the Adrenaline are kinda boring...

As an ultrarunner who loves doing them, I totally get why you wouldn't want to. I adore them and sometimes really struggle with my training. I will say, I do love the races and have yet to regret doing a race, especially my 100 miler.

I fear that I won't travel to some places that seem interesting due to the travel time required for them. I hate the act of traveling, so I think long flights, like the one to Australia, would stop me. I need to change that!

I've always been a Mizuno Wave Rider girl. And Nike Pegasus! Both are pretty cushy.

I used to be a Brooks only girl but since I had my son I have had a hard time finding the right show. Still searching....

Love the shoes! Those are super cute.

I have no desire to go sailing. I don't really like boats so that explains that.

I said the same thing about trail running and did that trail half and changed my mind. Something about not caring about pace so much is refreshing to me.

Ok, my question is this: If you were trapped on a deserted island what book would you bring with you?

LOVE anything leopard - even in other colors, like grey, blue and purple.

My go-to running shoes are Mizuno Wave Inspires, but I am dying to try the Brooks PureCadance. I have two brand new pairs of Inspires in my closet, so can't justify buying new shoes yet. :(

Some I don't have a desire to do? CrossFit. I feel like I should want to do it, but nope.

Haha I love that you have a list of things you don't want to do - I have a similar list. The top of mine is run a Disney race (gasp!) which I know makes me look crazy but I just don't want to.
I will have to say, I've run a trail race and it wasn't my favorite but it was a fun experience.
And as for Australia - I went with my family a couple of years ago and I HATE flying, HATE it, but it was so worth it. Hands down an amazing vacation. I actually think that New Zealand was my favorite part though. So my advice would be if you change your mind on the Australia thing and do in fact make the flight then take time and go both places. I'm not sure I will ever go back and there are a couple of things I wish I had done while there and I'm kicking myself for it.

I never had an interest in traveling to Rome but when I was 20 the opportunity presented itself to go there for free and I absolutely fell in love with it! I've been twice and am planning a third trip back this spring! On the other hand, I spent my entire life dreaming of going to India and when I finally went, I absolutely hated it! Funny how that works out! You might not have a desire to go to Australia but you might love it!

I'm running in the Saucony Guide 5s right now but am do for new shoes and looking for a change.

Something I don't care about: sky diving. No interest, whatsoever.

I guess its kind of bad when I don't know what kind of running shoes I have, but I've bought the same pair twice so they must be good!
I have no interest in running a full marathon. womp womp. The half was enough for me!

My question - What and when do you eat before you run a short distance (say between 3-6 miles)?

I was the same way about #2 and 3. Never say never. :) I've run half a dozen trail 50Ks already and don't plan to stop. But I live somewhere that has great trail running, so I'm sure that's part of why I changed my mind.

I'm currently running in the Mizuno Wave Riders. I started with the 14s moved to the 15s and now they're on the 16s! I got my last pair of 15s in December and will need a new pair come April and I'm thinking about getting fitted at a running store for a new pair. It makes me nervous though! I love my Mizuno's!

Ironically, I want to do all three of these! Austrailia has a lot of nice in it - Gold Coast/Barrier Reef, etc. not just dusty outback ;)

Lately, I have been enamored by the ultra marathoners - no worry about pace - just go.

Love the Ravenna colors! They have a cool blue/green too. You know how I feel about the transition ---I'm slowly working on it. It's a lot to take on in the middle of race season, but I am almost done with it. IronGirl is my last race on deck until the fall.
Oh yea - I'll be on a cruise May 11 (Miles for Moffit day :/ )

I want to travel EVERYWHERE! But Australia is definitely on my to-go list!

I've ran a trail run that was 3.5 miles and I really enjoyed it. My brother and I are going to run it again in April. I agree though about the ultras, but then again I said no to marathons in the past and look at me now! I starting running in Asic GT's and switched to Brooks Adrenaline's and love them. Why did you start running? Do you ever see yourself getting into Ironman races? Are you planning any vacations this summer? How did you meet Tim?

This is funny-- I've never really had the itch to go to Australia either. As much as I love to travel, it's not on my list. Neither is Ireland although it's at the top of my husband's wish list. So, I'll probably be going there one day. My shoes are Saucony, but I don't remember which style. They're great though.

Speaking of things that I don't care to do that most other people want to do, yesterday was super nice out. After my boyfriend went for his usual afternoon walk for coffee he came back and told me it was so nice out we should get out and do something. I looked at him like he was crazy and said, "we live in Florida. Every day is nice. It doesn't mean I have to get out and do something. " I feel like every time it is somewhat nice out, which is practically every day, people want to go out and enjoy the sunshine. For me, I could care less these past few months. I don't know what it is but if I have nothing to do outside and plenty of things I could do inside, I am going to stay inside. I can go outside tomorrow or the next day or the day after. I need to take advantage of this awesome weather but that'll come in time.
