This week wasn't as stellar as far as comparison is concerned, but it wasn't quite as awful as it looks. I missed one bike, one run (that kind of got made up for on another day), and a swim or two. It was my first week back at school, and it took some getting back to routine. I had to shift things around because of parent's night one night, and that's why I missed the bike. As it turned out, it was probably for the best. Taking two rest days before my international distance triathlon Saturday probably aided in why that race felt so great for me!
Here are my workouts:
Tuesday: 21.5 miles on the bike trainer with long hills. I had 5 x 5 minutes of big hills with 3 minutes of active recovery in between. It was 1:15 in the saddle.
Wednesday: This was a perfect run. I had a ball. It was my first interval workout back, and I did in on the treadmill. I warmed up for 10 minutes at 6.2, and then I started with 18 x 30 seconds at 7:30 pace. Between the 30 seconds at 8.0 I did 30 seconds at 6.0. I cooled down for 10 minutes, and then at some point I did 1 minutes at 6:58 pace just for kicks. I ran 4.2 miles in 38 minutes.
Thursday and Friday: Unplanned rest days because of parent's night and a going away party after school, but like I said, it worked out.
Saturday: International Distance Triathlon at Fort De Soto. It was a .5 mile swim, a 20 mile bike, and a 6.2 mile run. Overall I was really pleased. My bike pace was 18.9 and my run pace was 9:25, which is okay after all the other stuff.
Sunday: This morning I woke up and so badly wanted to skip the run but knew it'd be best do to it. I had 9 miles on the schedule to ramp up towards a marathon base. I did it in 1:25 and averages 9:29/mile. I was super happy with that after yesterday's triathlon.
In the end, not a stellar week, but my first week back at school was a tough adjustment for a few reasons. I'm excited to have this week behind me and to be ready for another great week workout and life wise in this upcoming week.
