It was another big and wonderful week of training here! I can't complain about anything, and yet again I can't even remember back to what I did at the beginning of the week without checking.
I will say that after the 10 mile run yesterday, I was tired. It wasn't just an "I got up early and ran" tired, but it was a "you're putting your body through a lot" tired. I'm thankful that my body is letting me do this and keeping me going as my mind and heart continue pushing onto bigger and bigger goals.
Here's my week of workouts:
Monday: Rest day! This is how to start loving and looking forward to Mondays.
Tuesday: I did 1:20 on the trainer with 5 repeats of 5 minutes at V02 max intensity with 3 minutes of recovery between each. I rode before and after to hit the 1:20.
Wednesday: I ran on the treadmill planning to do more like I did last week with 30 second sprint repeats. My foot was twinging earlier in the day so I decided not to do the sprint repeats and instead made up my own workout. I did a 10 minute warmup, then 5:00 at 6.9, 5:00 at 7.4, 5:00 at 6.9, and 5:00 at 7.4. I did the last ten minutes between 6.5-6.7. It ended up being 4.54 miles in 40 minutes, or an 8:48/mile average. It's not "speed work", but it's helping me pick up my pace a little bit.
Thursday: I rode 1:30 steady state on the trainer. I'm guessing I was around 17 mph.
Friday: I got up early to run before work. The lights were on on the track so I ran 6 miles there. 24 laps of the track gets repetitive, but I had my new watch to remember how many laps I had done. I ran those 6 miles at 9:14 pace.
Saturday: Tori and I had planned a big weekend that started with 10 miles running Bayshore on Saturday. We were both tired for different reasons and ran a little slower than normal, but we finished at the perfect time before the sky dropped!
Sunday: The second part of our weekend included a 50 mile bike ride, and we again decided that with this new (to me...not her) distance we'd take it slower to make sure we felt good the whole time. When we were done and not totally wiped we both considered it a success and a good sign. Tori is doing Ironman Miami 70.3 two weeks before I do Rev3 Florida, so this 50 miler was a great confidence builder for us both.
The drawback for me this week? I didn't get in a single swim. I really have got to stop making excuses and find some time to swim. I'm thinking I'll make a trip to the pool tomorrow to squeeze an extra one in.
